McDonald Engineers is delighted to announce that it’s next BPEC Certified Unvented Cylinder training course will take place on Wednesday 23rd May.

With all plumbers and installers having a legal obligation to complete this course every 5 years, McDonald Engineers is softening the blow a little by offering £75 worth of vouchers which can be redeemed against future purchases of its ECOflow and POWERflow cylinders.

As well as providing delegates with a complete understanding of Parts P and J of the Building standards the course also allows them to identify typical faults associated with the installation and maintenance of unvented hot water storage systems.

And if that wasn’t enough, McDonald also provide delegates with a factory tour to see exactly how the cylinders are manufactured.

McDonald Engineers has stepped up its campaign to revolutionise the rectangular hot water tank market by launching a number of tools to make the specification of its CUBEflow even easier.

The first tool to be introduced is a ready reckoner to clearly show its comparative products to previous manufacturers including Elson and Rolyat.

And to support its commitment to customer service, McDonald Engineers has produced a CUBEflow sketch sheet to enable architects, engineers and installers to specify exactly what they want quickly and easily.

McDonald Engineers’ Sales Director Jamie Stewart explained “Whilst we have been producing bespoke rectangular units for many years, the standard rectangular hot water tank market has been dominated by companies such as Elson. We are hoping the ready reckoner will reinforce our new product offering.”

He continued, “And whilst we have a standard range of CUBEflow, the sketch sheet enables clients to make the little tweaks to deliver a unit that meets their exact requirements.”

Both tools are available from the McDonald Engineers website at www.mcdonald-engineers.com.

STEELflow stainless steel cylinders

STEELflow stainless steel cylinders

McDonald Engineers, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of copper hot water cylinders, has announced it is to launch its own range of stainless steel cylinders after 2 years of research and product development in conjunction with Strathclyde University.

The company has already successfully produced and tested several prototypes as well as investing heavily in new equipment and technology to assist with the manufacturing process required to meet the expected demand.

The STEELflow range of stainless steel cylinders will enable McDonald Engineers to offer its clients a highly cost effective solution in the increasingly price sensitive unvented cylinder market.

The range will feature a number of standard cylinders together with a solar option all backed with McDonald Engineers 25 Year Guarantee and manufactured to the company’s exemplary quality standards.

McDonald Engineers’ Sales Director, Jamie Stewart, explained “We are fortunate to have established a loyal base of clients who have been asking us to look at a stainless steel option for years. And whilst McDonald Engineers will always be synonymous with high performance copper hot water cylinders which we believe offer superior performance, we felt the time was right to enter the stainless steel market.”

He continued “The STEELflow range draws upon all of our technical expertise and manufacturing quality to deliver a high quality product that is more than capable of competing on price and performance with any stainless steel products on the market.”

The announcement follows the successful launch of McDonald Engineers’ CUBEflow range of rectangular cylinders following the Elson’s decision to stop production of its rectangular copper combination tanks.

McDonald Engineers’ MD Embarks on Mt. Kilimanjaro Charity Challenge

McDonald Engineers’ Managing Director, Bill Stewart, has set off on an extraordinary challenge to scale Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and raise £20,000 for charity in the process.

Bill together with his wife Mairead, will join a team from the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy as they take on the challenge of a lifetime to raise funds for projects in Tanzania that the Rotary has been supporting.

Bill, more renowned for his love of cars as opposed to hill walking, explained,” Not being natural mountaineers we have been in training to raise our fitness for the event, though we are aware the threat of altitude sickness will be the biggest challenge.

He continued “We would like our effort to do more good than just allow us to bore our friends with stories about how long Mairead couldn’t wash her hair for or how sore my feet were.”

McDonald Engineers has seen a sharp rise in the demand for its CUBEflow range following the announcement that Elson will stop production of rectangular hot water tanks at the end of this month.

McDonald Engineers has a long standing reputation as a manufacturer of rectangular hot water tanks however, the company had been manufacturing them as a bespoke item as opposed to offering a standard range.

However, with the launch of its CUBEflow range of standard tanks and the appointment of former Elson employee Doug Rodgerson, McDonald Engineers has become a real force to be reckoned with in the rectangular hot water tank market.

Spearheading the development of the CUBEflow range, Doug Rodgerson, explained “McDonald Engineers technical capabilities are widely recognised in the industry however since joining the company what has impressed me the most is their uncompromising commitment to quality and customer service.”

He continued, “The CUBEflow range of rectangular hot water tanks, will offer customers a direct replacement for Elson units. McDonald Engineers bespoke capabilities continue to allow the wide variety of products previously available.”
